Christl Aggus
Candidate for President
Christl Aggus is an Alberta-based Certified Health & Safety Consultant and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional with more than 20 years of experience. She founded Principle Safety Ltd in 2005. The company provides expert consultations on health, safety, and the environment to companies of all sizes.
Her deep experience in health and safety has led to outstanding results for many organizations. She has developed and received approval for Electrical Safety Awareness courses from Bell Canada and Lockout Tagout for Teck Resources; and designed, implemented, and managed health and safety management systems for provincially and federally regulated organizations, which resulted in significantly reduced Alberta Workers’ Compensation Board rates.
Christl is dedicated to promoting safety awareness through training and education. She has worked extensively as a volunteer with the CSSE, including for the North American Occupational Health and Safety Week, as well as with the University of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Committee, Minerva Canada, and others. She has also been invited to speak about occupational health and safety (OHS) topics by the CSSE and the Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association.
Christl’s vision for the CSSE is that it becomes a “one-stop shop” for OHS professionals, practitioners, students, and alumni—as well as educators, vendors, and the safety-curious—to find information and guidance on a variety of OHS topics. She values the opportunity to bring to the forefront the notion of a profession that is well regulated and protected, so that its efforts to promote and protect public safety are directed toward improving Canadians’ work-life balance and organizations’ revenue-generating ability. She would also like to see the CSSE begin setting up the infrastructure needed to support her vision of OHS becoming a recognized profession, through working with stakeholders to secure the vision and creating a strategy to perpetuate continuous improvements to OHS professionalism. Most importantly, Christl would like to complete the work she has begun on moving the CSSE toward a sustainable governance model.
