HSPC Awards of Excellence

The HSPC's awards program provides the opportunity to recognize and celebrate excellence in health and safety, whether it is for a special project, an outstanding achievement or a lifelong commitment to the betterment of the health and safety profession at the chapter, regional, and national levels.

Nominations are open!  

The Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) is proud to announce the winners of its 2022 Awards of Excellence. The awards program recognizes and celebrates the outstanding achievements of our members in the industry and within CSSE.

All nominations were assessed by an experienced OHS professional using a scoring matrix.  The winners were then confirmed by CSSE’s Board of Directors.

Congratulations to the following winners:

2022 OHS Shining Star Award: Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to excellence in the OHS industry over the course of their career. This person is a leader in the OHS field and is passionate about promoting public support for health and safety.

  • Award of Excellence: David Uwazny, Edmonton Chapter

2022 Outstanding Service Award: The Outstanding Service Award recognizes three individuals (National level, Regional level, and Chapter level) who have made sustained contributions to CSSE in 2022. These individuals have demonstrated leadership and have gone above and beyond for the betterment of CSSE and its members.

  • Award of Excellence (National Level): Ken Newby, Edmonton Chapter
  • Award of Excellence (Chapter Level): Gary Gibson, Durham East Chapter
  • Award of Merit (National Level): Heather Jones, Edmonton Chapter

At the Annual General Meeting on December 16, 2021, Awards Task Force Chair Barry Bynoe recognized excellence in the health and safety profession by announcing the CSSE’s 2021 Award Winners:
