  • At tendering stage, fill in the client HSE questionnaire, review HSE client requirements and list HSE exceptions and clarifications

  • Establish and maintain the project specific project HSE plan including HSE risk assessment, control measures and applicable laws and regulations

  • Organize and provide necessary project HSE training packages and deliver training sessions for ABB employees and ex-pats assigned on projects

  • Implement and maintain ABB Health & Safety Management System as per OHSAS 18001 standard requirements

  • Implement and maintain ABB Environmental Management System as per ISO 14001 standard requirements

  • Perform HSE project and site internal audits as per project HSE plan and due diligence requirements

  • Prepare periodic reports related to HSE performance indicators and perform incident root cause analysis analysis using ABB Intelex Electronic integrated HSE Management System

  • Lead improvement projects related to HSE matters

  • Support site incident investigation, reporting and follow-up in accordance with ABB incident reporting protocols using Intelex database, whether local or global and coordinate Early and Safe Return to Work, WHSCC/WCB/WSIB/CSST process

  • Maintain the HSE laws & regulations register

  • Maintain the office emergency and evacuation plan

  • Participate in HSE committees and sustainability meetings, Corporate HSE meetings, conferences and other activities as requested



  • College/University graduate in HSE or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role

  • Bilingual (French/English) preferred

  • Safety Professional accreditations (CRSP, CSP, CIH, etc…)

  • Construction Safety Officer or ability to obtain certification

  • Electrical Safety Certification or ability to obtain certification

  • Environmental Certification or ability to obtain certification

  • Minimum 2 years field experience in the construction industry

  • Preferred experience in electrical substations high voltage transmission

  • Excellent knowledge of federal and provincial HSE legislation

  • Excellent knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, CSA Z462, and NFPA 70E standards

  • Experience in use of the HSE management software called `Intelex` is an asset

  • Solid knowledge of related Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Workers Compensation Act, Disability Management, and Return to Work programs across Canada

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience in HSE auditing

  • Large scale EPC project experience is an asset Canadian experience required

  • Good computer skills of MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
