EXPERIENCE
Health and Safety
Work with Safety Manager to actively promote and ensure Health and Safety compliance at all ready mix concrete plants in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Greater Montreal area (GMA) in a manufacturing / production and “real time” environment. I use my knowledge of provincial legislation, standards and industry best practices as one tool to provide guidance and support to local senior management, workers, supervisors, managers, safety representatives and the Joint Health and Safety Committee. I also work with sites to identify their specific areas of improvement in Health and Safety and to manage Contractor performance. I conduct pre start reviews to evaluate health and safety impacts when temporary plants are erected or when substantial modifications are made to existing locations. I actively lead and manage Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and CSST claims. Respond to and investigate motor vehicle accidents, injuries and concerns. Provide accurate and up to date reports and analysis to identify trends, root cause(s) and future prevention of incidents along with issues and recommendations for presentation to senior management and site management. When appropriate, I issue Serious Event Reviews and Safety Alerts for distribution across Eastern Canada. Am “on call” any time the plants are open and people are working. Conduct regular plant safety audits and construction job site spot checks to identify job hazards and develop safe work processes. Developed and implemented audit system that provides risk assessment for each item. I also provide appropriate Safety training, including new hire orientation and presentations to senior management.
