Health & Safety Program Evaluation

Seminar Focus
There are a variety of methods used to measure health and safety effectiveness that, if used incorrectly, can spell disaster for the safety professional. This course examines the strengths and weaknesses of some of the most common and not so common methods of measurement. These include incident statistics, safety by objectives, critical incident technique, behaviour sampling, auditing and perception surveys. Course participants will take a hands-on approach to a better understanding of when to use a particular method of measurement based on the strengths and limitations of each method.

Benefits of Attending
The law does not recognize ignorance of health and safety as an excuse for inaction or gaps in the health and safety management system. Corporations have a legal responsibility to assess their systems and be aware of any gaps that might exist. A host of program measuring tools are available to help corporations in the assessment process. Some tools are better than others and they all have strengths and weaknesses. Course participants will gain a good understanding of six key measurement tools and learn how to best put them to use. The course information will serve as a guide to selecting the appropriate tool to gain the right information the first time.

Who Should Attend
This seminar has been designed to interest a wide audience base. Recent changes in health and safety law suggests that anyone who has a duty under law for workplace safety and health activities should be in attendance. The seminar will be of particular interest to company directors, senior company officials, safety and health professionals, human resource manager, plant or facility managers, line supervisors, labour representatives, consultants, technical experts, joint workplace safety and health committee members and anyone else who may have an interest in or responsibility for program evaluation.
