The CSSE is excited to announce that CSSE Practice Groups are being set-up within the CSSE membership. These groups will take into account trends in technology, incorporate facets of social networking, and allow for greater interaction between CSSE members in the same industry sector. The Practice Groups will open up the lines of communication and networking for those members in a particular sector, allowing members to engage in relevant discussions and share specialized safety related knowledge on an ongoing basis.

Each Practice Group will have its own dedicated webpage, which will include such benefits as:

• Industry specific links
• A technical Question & Answer Bulletin Board so that members may post and answer questions in a secure environment
• A bi-annual electronic industry specific newsletter – which will include a direct call for articles on the webpage
• "Practice Group News" – postings of the latest news in the sector

The Practice Groups will of course also encourage ‘off-line’ communication, networking, and the sharing of knowledge which will be achieved through:

• specific events at the annual CSSE PDC
• a Practice Group Advisory Committee – which will be made up of members who will meet to discuss goal setting, assign responsibilities, and approve actions for the practice group

There will be no fee (outside of normal membership renewal fees) to join these CSSE Practice Groups group but registration is required, in order to ensure access to the Practice Group webpage or any of the Practice Group specific initiatives.

We are pleased to announce that the first practice group which is being set-up is the CSSE Healthcare Practice Group!

Remember all CSSE Healthcare Practice Group initiatives, including the dedicated webpage will only be accessible to CSSE members who have joined the practice group. If you are not in the Healthcare Sector and would like to see your sector set up, please email us to make a request for the next CSSE Practice Group. As we choose the next Practice Group for set up we will be taking demand, the need for a specialized body of knowledge in the sector, and member requests into consideration. When making a request please indicate whether you would also be willing to volunteer in the set up of the Practice Group. All requests will be acknowledged, however, we ask for your patience and understanding as the set up will take several months.
